The upper floors are used as offices. In 1977 the council agrees to let that use continue.
The ground floor gets a new shopfront and an illuminated fascia sign. These are the big windows onto Glossop Road that are still here today.
The floors above become shared living space, part of the student and young-professional life Broomhill is known for.
Planning permission is granted to use the building as a bistro and restaurant. The corner's hospitality story begins.
The premises is licensed for the first time, and the ground floor and basement open to customers.
The upper floors become three flats, giving the building the shape it has today: hospitality below, homes above.
Lokanta, a Turkish meze restaurant, opens just before Christmas, days before heavy snow hits Sheffield. It becomes a Broomhill favourite for years.
Dylan McConnachie-Pace takes on the building as The Aston, laying the groundwork for what comes next.
A new name, filmed every step of the way, and a clear idea: great drinks, the official GBK menu cooked in-house, and the energy put into the experience and the moments people talk about the next day.
